Curiosities

Can YouTube terminate accounts if it mentions Twitch?

Well, my dears, this question is relatively recurrent from people around me and also all over the internet: can YouTube close my account for having mentioned Twitch in some way? I dug deeper and reread YouTube's Terms of Use and Community Rules and Best Practices to review together. Check out!

But before, the original YouTube page link is here.

In a way, on the YouTube side, its Terms of Service and Best Practices are very consistent: videos that don't have no function other than “calling” viewers to other platforms will be considered spam, by the interpretation and analysis that I did and consulted with people close to the legal sphere, and the conclusion we were able to reach is that YouTube wants creators to maintain only a streaming platform and obviously, preferably their own platform, because Twitch today is not restricted to game broadcasts.

On the other hand, the YouTube platform itself claims in its own SPAM Terms and Notices that “there is no coercive tactics in place” and that creators can publish videos or make live streams that call users to Twitch, as long as they're not just for that purpose in their entirety. In other words, what we can conclude is that your video or even your broadcast needs to have some content present or they will fall into the fine mesh of “SPAM”, but that is not what many users say is happening.

There are flaws on the part of the YouTube automatic system along with the algorithms, in these specific cases, it is always important to open a ticket with YouTube Support so that you can have your problem resolved. In general, you can mention, create commands in chat bots or add links in the description, but keep in mind that your video (regardless of whether it's a live or not), needs to have content, preferably quality content.

And you, what did you think of these questions about the YouTube and Twitch? Share! 🙂
