Review: Operation Big Hero

This time, I'm going to analyze a different movie, full of adventures and humor: “Operation Big Hero”, a new animation from Walt Disney Pictures that, for the first time, explores characters from the branch Marvel Comics. The chosen ones are: the well-known Big Hero 6, a supergroup of heroes inspired by the Japanese manga that, in this feature film, get a good Americanized. Find out in my review what I thought of the film! Feel free to comment! 🙂

The story is based on San Frantokyo, a city that keeps elements of San Francisco – the famous slopes, the Golden Gate, the colorful clothes, the greetings, the robotics and, of course, the monsters of Japanese culture. That's where the wonder boy lives Hiro Hamada, who dedicates his life to building robots to participate in clandestine fights, which can bring a good income to the young man.

Aware of its potential, the older brother Tadashi gives a little push for the youngest to use his intelligence for more “useful” purposes. With that, it takes you to the wonderful world! Which, in the nerdy world, means an immense laboratory where you can produce whatever you want. But how Stan Lee well you know, every hero needs a big inspiration to exist. And Tadashi will be the conduit for Hiro not only to find a direction in life, but also to form a group of superheroes.

Knowing Hiro's potential, Tadashi takes him to his laboratory, and there he introduces his friends Wassabi (a hobbyist for organization and lasers), Honey Lemon (a chemistry expert), Go Go Tomago (a physics expert), and Fred (a drug addict). comics and lots, lots more mess). At this time, we also know baymax, latest invention of Tadashi, a robot nurse that recognizes health or psychological problems and does everything to cure them. With each appearance of Baymax, prepare to have a lot of fun, as the Baymax feature is fantastic.

In "Operation Big Hero", the friends have to get together and form a large group, to face a villain who wears a mask. Kabuki. Although not innovative, the plot has right elements for hold the attention of children and adults, with a balance between action scenes and good sense of humor (literally). But the main element is, without a doubt, the friendship between Baymax and Hiro, which ends up overshadowing the presence of the other heroes of the gang. You can't say it's a waste, because the bond between the two works as well as the bond between Daniel San and Master Miyagi, not knowing who is master here and who is apprentice, as one learns from the other constantly.

The charismatic inflatable robot is the lifeblood of Operation Big Hero. Not only for the captivating purity of the character or the quality of his animation (the texture of the inflating and deflating is impressive), but also for the relationship he gradually develops with Hiro, in the sense of better understanding human emotional complexity. A trajectory that is very reminiscent of another animation classic that addresses the friendship between a robot and a boy: The Iron Giant. Even the development of the two partnerships is similar, conceptually speaking.

Conceptualized as a superhero animation, Operation Big Hero gives the viewer a good dose of action sequences where the inexperience of the group of friends is highlighted a few times. However, it is in the excitement of thesehero nerds” that lies in a good part of the film's grace: they don't need to be in this situation, but they enjoy a little to experience them. This experience, added to the mixture of different cultures, in addition to the growing friendship between Baymax and Hiro, make Operation Big Hero a very fun movie.

Now, those people who like to leave the movie theater when the end credits roll, an important warning: there is a extra scene at the very end of the film, starring a striking icon of Marvel, something that was present in “Ant Man", for example. Fun and iconic, it's worth the wait and see.

The good news for fans: it was confirmed that one movie sequel is already in production and will be called big hero 7. The sequel will still take some time (literally). The film is scheduled to be released in end of 2017. The information was confirmed by Marvel and Stan Lee, the film will again be directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams and produced by Roy Conli and Stan Lee will return to voice Fred's Father as part of the film's script.

Conclusion

Operation Big Hero is typical source movie, which needs a good amount of time to introduce each of the main characters and also their motivations. The animation follows the traditional “Disney standard” of quality, as well as the story, where family values are present, in addition to positioning itself in favor of science in the eternal struggle against capitalism, no matter how much the supposed villain is presented in a somewhat similar way. biased.

The film was a huge success with audiences and critics. The film had over 80% of positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and a score of more than 74 out of 100 in the Metacritic. After a few months, the film won the award for Best Animated Film at the Oscars 2015.
