Empty stomach… Certainly because of the rush or not being able to at the moment, you may not have eaten something in the last 3 hours and practicing some activities can be considerably dangerous, in addition to the ingestion of certain elements. With that in mind, here at Super Info we separate 5 things you should never do on an empty stomach. Check it out in full!
1 – Drink plain coffee
Even decaf coffees make your body produce the acid that causes heartburn and other stomach problems. An alternative is to drink coffee with milk or cream, since its fats help to neutralize the bad effects of the drink if you drink it straight.
2 – Chewing gum
Chewing gum without having anything in your belly causes your stomach to produce gastric juices unnecessarily, damaging the inner wall of the organ and resulting in internal pain. If this becomes recurrent, you may even develop gastritis and an ulcer! If you have no alternative, try to chew the gum for a maximum of 10 minutes and avoid products that contain sugar, cyclamate and aspartame.
3 – Shopping hungry
Surely at some point along the way, you've walked into the supermarket hungry and left with so many things you probably didn't need, right? This happens in any store, as the lack of food makes us more insatiable, but it is in the market that this becomes very evident.
The body, as a protective measure, sends signals to the brain placing “food” as a top priority, altering its momentary perspectives. Therefore, a good tip is to make a shopping list and decide to pay in cash, PIX, having a stipulated amount to spend before entering the establishment.
4 – Drinking alcohol
On an empty stomach, the absorption of alcohol can double or even triple and make the hangover worse the next day – not to mention, of course, the problems that can occur in the heart, liver and kidneys. If there is no way to escape, avoid carbonated drinks, as they are absorbed more quickly.3
5 – Sleep on an empty stomach
Without a doubt, that last item is crucial! Going to bed on an empty stomach is asking for a fitful night's sleep and harming your body in the long run. In practice, low blood glucose levels can make you wake up earlier than normal, in addition to having lighter and interrupted sleep at every moment. Of course, sleeping on a full stomach isn't good either, so try to eat something light, like dairy products, for a more pleasant night's sleep.
And you, what do you think of the things you shouldn't do on an empty stomach? 🙂
