An analysis of A Memoir Blue, an interactive story game by Cloisters Interactive studio and published by Annapurna Interactive.
I had the pleasure of playing A Memoir Blue live and sharing this adventure with everyone. In the skin of Miriam, a swimming champion, the game takes us through a sad and at the same time charming childhood. Without a line in the entire game, it proves to be a true work of art, both in terms of visual choices, music, and narrative.
Am I going to cry maybe?
With five minutes I asked myself exactly that. Will this game-shaped piece of art make me so emotional that I cry? It didn't come to that, but Memoir Blue is moving in so many ways that it wouldn't be surprising to burst into tears. It's not a sad story, on the contrary, the idea here is precisely to overcome, but it speaks to us so much that emotion is inevitable.
I expected a beautiful game, in every way, but although short, it takes the perfect time to take a journey through the main character's story. It's nice to be positively surprised by games! If you like engaging stories with charming visuals and a beautiful soundtrack, Memoir Blue is the game you've been looking for!
