The remake of the little mermaid movie brought controversy beyond what we were used to in adaptations of classic animations. On the one hand, expectations were high, and on the other, many already said that the production was doomed to failure. The first reactions to the Little Mermaid movie have been released and they are apparently positive.
“'The Little Mermaid' is Disney's best live-action adaptation to date. Halle Bailey It's Ariel. Big props to the sound effects team. Nice changes, albeit a new song with a lot of autotune. Could watch 'Under the Sea's of this version' all day, it was the highlight of it all.”
On Melissa McCarthy's villainous Ursula, David Howat of Next Best Picture said:
“Halle Bailey is wonderful, elevating everything around her. Even when she changes she is so magnetic. And Melissa McCarthy is having a great time. Excellent cast all around.”
And it's not just these reviews, several others have already released their first impressions of the film. Not all of them are positive, and the opinion of journalists is not always followed by the general public, but at least a positive majority already raises expectations. Anyway, from those who loved it to those who didn't find the film all that interesting, they say that Halle Bailey's performance as Ariel is simply phenomenal!
None of this guarantees that the film will be a success, neither critically nor with the public. But it still makes those most excited about the production calmer and more anxious for its theatrical release on May 26th!
