Karl Urban will be Jhonny Cage in Mortal Kombat 2 the sequel to the movie based on the games and the internet is divided in opinions. On the one hand, many like what the actor is presenting in The Boys, the superhero series in which most are more super than heroes. On the other hand, Mortal Kombat films are not exactly synonymous with success over the years, which can even hinder the actor.
A post-credits scene in the 2021 film teased the inclusion of Johnny Cage in the sequel. In the "Mortal Kombat" series, Cage is one of the main heroes defending Earthrealm from various threats, and he is known for his signature moves and fatalities. In later installments of the series, the role of Cage was passed to his daughter, Cassie Cage.
“Mortal Kombat 2” will be produced by Atomic Monster's James Wan, Broken Road Production's Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid and E. Bennett Walsh.
The union of names like the actor and the game will undoubtedly attract many people to the cinema. With the rise of game movies trying to replace adaptations of comic book heroes, it's only fair. But will big names be enough to convince the public that the new hype is to see game characters in the movies?
