Review: Quantum Break

“Quantum Break” is the new game from Remedy Entertainment, with an exclusive release for the Xbox one and PRAÇA. The game is one of the most anticipated from Microsoft since its announcement. The game perfectly combines the dramatic storyline, excellent graphics, sequences live action and third-person gameplay, creating a unique and fully immersive experience.

The game perfectly narrates the adventures of "Jack Joyce” and the unfolding of a “failed” experiment on time travel. The accident gave Jack special powers, who can now manipulate time in different ways, seeking to save humanity by reversing everyday processes.

In conjunction with traditional mechanics, the game challenges new players through predefined scenarios, where it is necessary to defeat enemies using a variety of weapons and skills. In addition, the title incorporates a cover system that allows the character to use objects scattered around the environment to protect himself from possible shots.

Despite being a simplified game, it is prone to failures, since the character does not always "understand" the need to hide, for example. Unlike titles like "gears of war" and "tomb Raider“, the act of coming out of cover to fire it's not exactly safe, as the protagonist stands, completely exposed to enemies.

Still, the handling of weapons can cause certain problems even for more experienced players, thanks to the very sensitive aim present. Fortunately, with the tweaks in the settings menu it is possible "to relieve” the symptoms mentioned.

In “Quantum Break”, players need to solve some small puzzles. The interesting thing is that, with Jack's powers, it is possible to rebuild destroyed objects, as well as "freeze" some structures and even go back in time, allowing the inclusion of challenges that require a study of the environment.

One of the differentials of the game are, in fact, the four episodes available between the acts of the game. Engraved with real actors, the quality sequences refer to the TV series of high investment, with the right to settings and excellent performances. Episodes are optional, and they tell more details of the plot in an interesting and efficient way.

During the campaign, players can still make some important choices, which directly impact the episodes and affect the course of history, which is quite interesting. Although conservative, the strategy is perfectly executed. Episodes make some of the characters more real and make players feel care about them. Another advantage is the welcome break in the sometimes tiring pace of the game.

In graphic aspects, “Quantum Break” is one of the best, if not the best in this regard. Abusing the power of Xbox One and the dynamism of PCs, the game arrives with unquestionable quality visuals. In addition, the sound of “Quantum Break” has a discreet soundtrack, but well crafted. In the Portuguese version, the dubbing can create some confusion, especially with intonation errors, but not enough to make ugly.

Another option is to enable the original audio, in English, which is very neat and with the right to real actors voices. The audio is completed with good effects and ambient sounds. The only complaint about the sound is the gun noises, which leave something to be desired in some principles, being compared with artificial weapons, most of the time.
