Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the most anticipated games of all time. The game is inspired by the classic film franchise created by George Lucas. Available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the game is published by Electronic Arts (famous EA Games) and developed by Respawn Entertainment (the same company responsible for Apex Legends and Titanfall, for example). I can already say that it is possible to state that this is the best star wars game in years, as it has an engaging story, interesting action gameplay and a lot of fanservice for fans of the space saga. But does the game really please in the main aspects? Check out my review along with my gameplays streamed live on YouTube!
right after the Disney buy the lucasfilm and establish an exclusive contract with EA (Electronic Arts) for the launch of games inspired by the Star Wars films, fans were somewhat uncomfortable with the lack of good releases and with a questionable quality of the games available, in particular for EA's carelessness - widely known by many gamers. Counting only on the series star wars battlefront, EA needed a great game to revive interest in the brand in games.
As a result, EA finally managed to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, many thanks to the developer Respawn Entertainment. Undoubtedly, the studio gained a lot of prominence after the release of the acclaimed titanfall 2, and finally entered the spotlight thanks to the Apex Legends, one of the best and most popular games of 2019. In Fallen Order, the developer used everything it learned to create a detailed, rewarding, exciting campaign mode experience without the competitors' annoying vices, such as last-minute inserted multiplayer or the famous and feared microtransactions everywhere.
In short (no spoilers), the new adventure of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order put players in the shoes of the Jedi Cal Kestis in one of the worst possible times to carry a lightsaber in a galaxy far, far away: among the episodes III and IV of the series, that is, shortly after Emperor Palpatine's Order 66 condemned all Jedi in the galaxy to death. Beside your faithful friend droid BD-1, Cal needs to escape from the Inquisitors, a death squad specializing in detecting Force users.
Jedi Cal Kestis joins a somewhat welcoming group of survivors and receives help from his master. Jedi Cere Junda and the amazing pilot Greez. Together, they try to revive what's left of the Jedi order in a storyline filled with fun twists, homages to classic films, and plenty of surprises worth discovering during ongoing gameplay. The graphics are amazing and the way everything is executed is just perfect.
Another very cool aspect of the game is that reviewing old areas already carrying new powers that were previously discovered will reward you with several bonuses, essential to face the challenges of the more advanced levels and other items that I will not mention due to spoilers. Also, it's relatively common to find rooms that are inaccessible until you get a new talent, but navigating between different stages never gets boring or disrupts the pace of the journey - at least in my experience with the game.
In practice, this happens mostly because the combat of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order it's really fun and well-executed, perhaps the best use of a lightsaber in video games to date (Amen!). The fights are very technical and moving too fast results in certain deaths, so it is worth using the “timing of enemies” at times and thinking carefully about the best approach for each situation. Fighting never gets tiring because the game knows how to alternate great platform and puzzle moments between each fight.
My opinion
- Graphics
- Interface
- Fun
- Gameplay
- Functionalities
Conclusion
Based on the hours I spent playing the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, I can say with complete conviction that it is an excellent title for fans of the film series as well as for players looking for a good action game in single player. The campaign is quite extensive enough to guarantee several hours of fun, and the exploration is simply incredible with good items and references for fans of the franchise. During my gameplays, I could notice small technical problems that didn't disturb the rhythm of the game – they just made me laugh a little live, which is another beautiful hit from the developer Respawn Entertainment.
