Episode 3 of The Last of Us series follows Nick Offerman's Bill into the post-apocalyptic story of the show based on the game of the same name. And while the first two episodes received high marks, this one did not.
The episode focuses on Bill and Frank's backstory as the two meet, fall in love and grow old together. And that was enough to make members of the public uncomfortable immensely. The attack, however, came soon after with users on IMDB giving the episode a 1, with the sole reason that the couple (which is canonical) did not like it.
Although these notes show how important it is for more characters to appear to raise precisely these discussions, the episode also had high marks. The negative reviews are a stark contrast to the praise Episode 3 seems to be receiving. There are more than 36,000 perfect scores, which demonstrates that even with a frivolous attempt at a “boycott”, the episode maintains the quality of the previous ones.
"Something special! That's how I felt after watching this episode! Not that I've watched anything jaw-dropping or mind-blowing! Except I saw something special that I will probably remember for a long time!” – wrote user andmikkelsen
This isn't the first time such mass attacks on production notes have happened. Always moved by the most simplistic arguments and if sites like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB do not change the way of accounting for the “quality” of productions, more and more these notes will be irrelevant. Since any group of people can just bombard the site with bad grades, that doesn't necessarily reflect in reality.
It will be a common problem for the next few months...
