If the situation of films and productions for cinema and streaming was already going through a difficult time, now it has become even more serious. Writers Guild of the USA goes on STRIKE! There was an attempt to close an agreement, but the parties did not agree and made that decision.
The decision was made following six weeks of dealing with @Netflix, @Amazon, @Apple, @Disney, @wbd, @NBCUniversal, @paramountplus and @Sony under the umbrella of the AMPTP.

“The WGA West and WGA East Boards of Directors, acting in accordance with the authority granted to them by their members, have unanimously voted to call a strike, effective at 12:01 am, Tuesday, May 2nd.”
“The decision comes after six weeks of negotiations with Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney, Warner, NBCUniversal, Paramount and Sony Pictures under the AMPTP umbrella. While our Negotiation Committee initiated this process with the intention of making a fair deal, the responses from the studios have largely fallen short given the crisis the writers are facing.”
Picking will begin tomorrow afternoon. #WGAStrong #WGAStrike

It is not new that several areas that work in the production and post-production of the films and series that we love so much are in crisis. Much has been discussed about Marvel movies for example and their poor CGI choices. If the situation continues for a long time, all areas are affected, after all, not only companies are left with damaged content. With productions not reaching the final audience, many billions do not enter the coffers of companies.
The last WGA strike lasted 100 days. We will see how the negotiations will proceed but the strike has already started.
