Restarting the Nintendo Switch

If the Nintendo Switch is working normally, restarting it is quite simple:

  1. Hold the power button on top of the console.
  2. Select "Power Options" from the menu that appears.
  3. Tap “Restart” and wait for the console to restart.
  4. Restarting frozen Nintendo Switch

If the console is frozen or unresponsive, restarting may help fix the problem. To restart the Nintendo Switch when it is frozen:

  1. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds until the screen goes black.
  2. Release the power button and wait a few seconds.
  3. Press the power button again to turn on the console.
  4. Rebooting the Nintendo Switch in Safe Mode

If your Nintendo Switch is experiencing severe issues and you are unable to restart it normally, you may need to put it in safe mode. To do this:

  1. Turn off the console by pressing and holding the power button.
  2. Press and hold the + and - volume buttons.
  3. Press the power button while still holding the volume buttons.
  4. Keep holding the volume buttons for about 10 seconds.
  5. When the recovery menu screen appears, use the Volume buttons to select “Restart” and press the Power button.
  6. Resetting the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con

If you are experiencing issues with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con, you may need to reset it separately. To reset the Joy-Con:

  1. Slide the Joy-Con out of the console.
  2. Locate the sync button on the back of the Joy-Con.
  3. Press and hold the sync button for about 3 seconds until the LED lights start flashing.
  4. Release the sync button and wait a few seconds.
  5. Press the sync button again to connect the Joy-Con to the console.
