Many were excited to see what else could come out of the characters Groot and Rocket Racoon. But it seems that Marvel canceled the film and we won't be seeing anything about it anytime soon! What many fans want from groups of heroes is for them to have their own stories. After all, we know how some people met but we still want to see the famous “from now on”. The two Guardians of the Galaxy characters almost got a movie but it was scrapped before it went into development.
In the words of James Gunn himself:
“I always thought it was a third movie thing because I thought we had to tell Peter Quill's story first and then get into Rocket's story. I think the only question was would it be a Rocket and Groot movie or would it be Guardians 3 – because initially, I was going to do it as Rocket and Groot.”
Future plans are still unclear but fans will find out what happens to Rocket and Groot when they watch. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Friday, May 5th.
