The seventh video game title "Cars” comes to 7th and 8th generation major platforms. Cars 3 is an uncompromised racing game where the focus is on fun. Different from the movies, the tracks in the game are in the style Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing, with shortcuts and features to slow down your opponents. Altogether there are 22 playable characters and 13 different scenarios to run alone or challenge up to 3 friends in local multiplayer. But does the released game meet the same public expectations for the movie Cars 3? Check out my review!
There are four modes available in the game: the events, which are independent races; the cup, which is a three-race championship; A Team Play, which lets you team up with friends in local multiplayer; and the thomasville park, an open environment for performing maneuvers without rules and training, but which contains some missions.
Within these modalities there are subcategories: The race, which is a competition for first place; Mortal race, a match with weapons that help slow down your opponents; Demonstration of Maneuvers, a time-controlled competition where the highest scorer wins; and the Elimination, where your chosen car must destroy NPC cars in search of the highest score in a short period.
But all this content is not available when you access the game the first time, on the contrary. It is necessary to play and increase your points in the Hall of Fame of the game to gradually release the content in the sections. But don't be scared, with approximately one hour or, at most, six hours of gameplay, the main material is already accessible.
The gameplay is very simple and works very well. To get even faster, you can perform tricks that help increase the car's speed, for example, riding on two wheels, aerial maneuvers or drifting on the markings indicated on the track. An interesting point is the dubbing in Brazilian Portuguese that features the original cast of the film, which makes the experience even more immersive and fun thanks to the characters' dialogues during the matches.
The graphics are faithful to the animations, and the lighting effects deserve the most attention. Although it would be possible to be even more beautiful with today's technology, Avalanche knew how to work leaving the title without serrations or bad modeling. As for physics? Well, it's not a simulator, so the gameplay is very arcadey and easy to learn.
