Review: Spider-Man

The name needs a lot of explanation, doesn't it? Spider-Man is a great exclusive game on the Playstation 4. The game is a unique experience and makes a big bet on an open world full of objectives, presence of famous characters and a spectacular plot, the title seeks to innovate and end once and for all the bad reputation of games that are based on comic books. But will the game Spider-Man does it really deliver all this? Check out my full review and find out!

Let's start very objectively: the new bet was made, and the shot was accurate. Spider-Man is not just the best character based game, as it can also easily be considered among one of the best titles based on comics, specifically for the marvel and sony. Without a doubt, much of this merit comes from one of the most delicate aspects: its captivating plot and also the range of possibilities that the game offers us. It's practically entertainment for hours and hours.

The Spider-Man game proposes to present a Spider man much more experienced. For this exact reason, nothing to follow the emergence of the character, or his first steps in fighting crime around New York City. Everything already starts with a grandiose goal that the hero has left over with life experience, with frequent dialogues in which he details past battles or even problems in the old and controversial relationship with mary jane.

Regarding the plot, what I can say with complete conviction is that the game brings an amazing twist and totally striking for everyone. Believe it or not, I already imagined moving towards the end of the game and I had the excellent and incredible surprise that everything was just beginning in the universe of the best known hero on this planet. Of course, for reasons of spoilers, I can't delve into the subject, but being surprised like this was one of the best experiences with Spider-Man.

Another aspect that I thought was awesome was just for those of you who are longtime Spider-Man fans, there's an additional element that is incredible. Throughout the plot, Spider-Man makes numerous mentions to events that are not shown in the game. They occurred in the hero's universes, or even in some scene from the Spider-Man movies, for example: at the exact moment when a villain is upside down on a ladder and Spider-Man says: "Shall we kiss now?” – a sharp and punctual reference to the famous scene with mary jane in the hero's first feature.

Still, to further increase player immersion, Spider-Man features a wordless setting, the entire City of New York was properly reproduced in a very faithful way in the game. If you've visited New York at some point, you'll be impressed by the fidelity of detail. Of course, some buildings needed to be replaced due to clear contract issues, practically all of its numerous tourist attractions were included in the game, including the famous central park.

In my honest opinion, never has a hero game set out to go so deep and bring a simulation as real as in Spider-Man (aka Spider-Man). And more than watching all this, it's incredible to enjoy all this scenery, passing through the streets and hidden places thanks to the powers of Ninja from Spider-Man, since there is no characteristic so different from the character than his famous acrobatic jumps hanging on synthetic webs, with different animations – another interesting point.

In Spider-Man I was also quite impressed with the character's movements in the game. During the several hours I played and Stream the game on YouTube, I was able to notice the wide variety of positioning of the hero when moving between platforms, as well as the spectacular aerial acrobatics, what I found most interesting was a posture half inclined on a ramp at the top of a building. Every detail has been taken into account to create an even more immersive experience. It's literally incredible!

Regarding the combat model used in Spider-Man, another big compliment! Spider-Man has a huge combination of sequential and varied movements. To get an idea, from simple “square+square+triangle“, even more complex moves that require a response time on the part of the player (I confess that I was quite lost at first, but it is a matter of the learning curve).

Still, mechanics manage to be innovative at this point and masterfully deliver impressive results. And thanks also to a skill evolution system – my favorite feature, Spider-Man brings a diversified combat that allows the player to have ample options to defeat his opponents and have even more engagement with the game. You will accumulate points that can be exchanged for skills and items.

As in many other open world games, Spider-Man features a wide range of side missions and main missions, where you decide their priority. In practice, I can say that these side missions are fundamental not only to yield more XP points or even collectibles, but also to complement the story. As you progress through the plot, these new plot tasks appear, which are very diverse and unique. Cool!

About visual quality, aka the graphics of the game, I can say that the Spider-Man game brings a very detailed look in each of the costumes he wears, as well as the entire City of New York, as well as the supporting characters of the plot that bring several very realistic features and convincing facial expressions. All this thanks to an excellent job of capturing movements on top of real actors, which in practice may seem simple from the player's point of view, but it requires a lot of care and a lot of work.

Like other similar games, Spider-Man has some occasional problems, which I will highlight now. The main one, in my opinion, is precisely the way in which most of the missions are applied in the game. Regardless of the situation, basically all of them lead to the same predictable outcome: a fight against a horde of enemies and the rescue of people and specific places in New York City.

For some players, maybe this can become something very exhausting according to how you approach these activities. The tip in this case is to try to join or vary with the secondary missions that I mentioned earlier, such as, for example: photographs of tourist spots or research missions, with the main missions. For that reason, the application of side quests was a good strategy adopted in the game.

Conclusion

Spider-Man is a game that, in my opinion, exceeds all expectations and arrives not only as one of the best hero games, but as perhaps one of the best PlayStation 4 exclusive games. references to the universe of the character in the comics, and a gameplay that needs no further comment, the game certainly becomes a great reason to have a PlayStation, in addition to being mandatory for Spider-Man fans. It is worth it!
