Review: Battlefield 1

battlefield 1

After years of competing with the franchise "call of duty“, the podium of the best and most played modern war FPS brought news. In this latest edition, the EA Games solved point to the past, going back to First World War, a time that was generally quite ignored for first- and third-person shooter games. The tactic worked, having attracted attention both for its trailer and for the innovative proposal of the game.

“Battlefield 1” quite fulfills its initial proposal, bringing back the gameplay that has already become classic to Battlefield for a reality of First World War. The historical research was very well done, with impeccable voice acting. In other words, it's impossible to start playing BF1 and not feel like you're in a game"different” of the common.

It is notable that there are great differences in relation to the other games in the franchise, such as, for example: the old weapons used, in addition to all the aesthetic and graphic parts that stand out a lot and fill our eyes. Really, “battlefield 1” is beautiful and immersive, although it does not bring a great evolution in its graphic realism compared to the BF4.

In our analysis, it is evident the graphics downgrade compared to the trailers, which was expected, but which we shouldn't consider normal. Even so, the graphics are surprising, and all this is very well optimized for the PC. The same is repeated for the servers, which even in a beta, worked perfectly.

The news of this edition of Battlefield are very interesting. To the climate changes really affect the flow of the game. A sandstorm during a desert map, for example, can ruin the whole strategy, making the scout class very difficult to use and restricting the actions of even the most frontline oriented classes.

The horses are indeed present, as the trailers had already pointed out, but unfortunately it is not possible to make large cavalry charges, as only two of them seem to “appear” at the same time. Still, it's a lot of fun to play on horseback, and killing enemies with the cavalry saber is quite exciting.

Gameplay has been eased in some corners and hampered in others for historical reasons. Killing an enemy seems to be something easier, even taking into account the aim "bad” of weapons. However, controlling planes is something for those who are used to it. The planes are slow and make wide turns, tanks (and other land vehicles) are much less technological and, amazingly, they are more varied.

Despite its qualities, it is possible to point out some flaws in the game, which are unlikely to be corrected. In fact the weapons have a somewhat different gameplay than usual, however, even so they seem too fast than would be appropriate for the First World War. In fact, the whole game feels too fast-paced for the first war.

Despite "battlefield 1” look a lot like World War I, the game is not “warred” like that era, and it doesn’t resemble trench warfare as much as it could, more like previous titles transported to “World War I” than really an attempt to create a style of play geared towards this era.

Conclusion

"Battlefield 1" is a game that, in fact, fulfills its initial proposal, bringing back the gameplay that has already become classic to Battlefield to a reality of First World War. The presence of classic weapons, sensational graphics, balanced gameplay and a phenomenal plot makes “Battlefield 1” one of the best games ever produced today. Therefore, it is highly recommended for fans of battle games, even more so taking place at an important moment in our history.
