“Far Cry Primal” is an incredible action game, set in 10 thousand years before Christ, with release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Located in land of golds, a hostile region populated by savage factions and beasts, the adventure details the history of the wenja tribe, led by the primal instincts of “Takkar“. The game has excellent graphics, but has some problems in its story. Check out my review and find out if Far Cry Primal is worth playing!
In “Far Cry Primal”, tribes fight hard for their survival against clans found on the dirt roads, while saber-toothed tigers, mammoths, cave lions, and grizzly bears threaten the inhabitants in the dense forests. forests of oros.
The prehistoric experience is incredible, with characters and dialogue built in a language of the time, indecipherable today. The sensation of being present in a world without rules is enhanced when Takkar, the protagonist of the journey, is thrown into Oros to improve his war tools and do whatever he wants (literally).
Unlike other games, Far Cry Primal does not delve into the narrative. However, the title goes straight to the point and leaves the player free in the middle of the jungle. The premise is relatively simple, where Takkar must recruit new fighters to strengthen the army of wenjas, whose objective is to exterminate the leaders of rival tribes Udam and Izila.
The dialogues are perfectly adapted to our language, they are direct and brief, as the game wants the player to discover the secrets based on the exploration. However, exploring is not so simple, as Golds it's a dynamic world where things happen around you all the time. Animals hunt their prey, cannibals commit massacres for a mere piece of meat and enigmatic events mystify tundras and caves, making the game very busy.
In addition, Far Cry Primal's map is quite extensive, however, smaller compared to Far Cry 4, for example. That's because most of the time you'll have to walk on foot to finish the missions and parallel activities that take place in real time. It is worth noting that it is possible to ride animals at later points in history, walking is the best option to explore and collect raw materials.
Even with the change of theme, from the Himalayas from Far Cry 4 to the Stone Age, Far Cry Primal keeps the essence of the series intact. Make no mistake, you'll still need to take over enemy outposts and take down pyres – which replace the communication towers in previous games – to unlock new fast travel points.
Still, skinning animals also remains a need, the weapon and item crafting system is much more robust in this version. Takkar need to craft bows, clubs, spears, and bee bombs from their own collected materials, meaning no weaponry is bought or awarded for free.
THE negative point is that there are few weapon options to craft through the crafting system. Combat, sometimes, seems to be limited by the little variety of weapons available, and makes it necessary to act most of the time with the same arsenal.
In Primal, there are dozens of tame animals, including canines, cats and predators, which can be used as battle partners and means of transport. The functionality of turning animals into allies manages to renew the combat mechanics from Far Cry 2, which guarantees an extra layer of connection to the gameplay.
Furthermore, "Takkar” is able to use the beast to fight specific animals and warriors from single attack commands, but first he needs to make the animal docile with the help of supernatural powers learned from the Master of Beasts. If your pet dies, you can heal it with meat or revive it.
for having the dynamic weather, the Land of Oros raises the challenge for wild creatures when the sun goes down. The dangers of the nighttime test all of the player's survival skills, as visibility is low and there are more predators hunting, making it even more interesting.
The feeling of nocturnal fragility is intense and desperate, as it is necessary to set fire to weapons at different times in order to be able to see. The problem is that, each time a torch is used, one unit of animal fat is consumed, that is, there is always the risk of running out of light in the middle of dense forest.
It is worth mentioning that “Far Cry Primal” was conceived with the same engine used in its predecessor, the Far Cry 4, but the look of the new game is much more inviting. It is impossible not to be surprised and awestruck with the incredible level of detail of the dense vegetation that surrounds the open world of oros. Tundras, rocky mountains and forests form the magnificent ecosystem of Far Cry Primal.
My opinion
- Graphics
- Interface
- Fun
- Gameplay
- Functionalities
Conclusion
In our analysis, we can conclude that “Far Cry Primal” reinvents the concepts established by the predecessors to offer an open world adventure with exclusive focus on survival (Survival Mode).
The game succeeds in everything it proposes, even with the basic and very predictable story. However, Ubisoft proves that the franchise's formula is still capable of adapting to any environment, whether in primeval forests or in the Himalayan mountains.
